DRM-free Horizon Zero Dawn lands on GOG

After releasing on Steam and the Epic Games Store in August, the once PlayStation-exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn has now also launched on GOG.

You can pick up your copy of the game on the GOG store here. As with all games on this platform its entirely DRM free and, as pointed out here, it makes use of the GOG Galaxy client.

As for pricing on this new platform it costs $49.99 which converts to around R768.47 as GOG still doesn’t have localised pricing. Steam and the Epic Games Store do have localised pricing for South Africa, however, and the game costs R680 and R647.99 respectively.

At least in this country you will be paying more to completely own the .exe of your version of the game.

As a reminder Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition comes with the following:

• Horizon Zero Dawn (base game)
• The Frozen Wilds expansion
• Carja Storm Ranger Outfit and Carja Mighty Bow
• Carja Trader Pack
• Banuk Trailblazer Outfit and Banuk Culling Bow
• Banuk Traveller Pack
• Nora Keeper Pack
• Digital art book

The GOG launch of the game also coincides with the 1.08 patch of the game. The initial August release date on PC was a rough one with the game experiencing a multitude of problems. Thankfully developer Guerrilla Games has been continually fixing it for these past few months instead of leaving it in its broken state.

The full 1.08 path notes can be found here, and they come with a litany of bug fixes and stability improvements, but there is a trade-off when it comes to some new functionality for those who bought the game from the Epic Store.

“With Patch 1.08, we are also introducing an update to our Epic SDK, adding features such as Cloud Saves and Achievements! Do note that Achievements will not retroactively unlock, so in order to successfully obtain all Achievements you will need to restart your playthrough,” the announcement reads.
