Huawei’s premium Watch GT 2 Pro lands in SA as a feature-rich yet affordable smartwatch

On 9th November, Huawei will make its latest and most premium smartwatch available in South Africa – the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro.

This new wearable is yet another in a long line of beautiful Huawei smartwatches that marry superb design with a host of fitness-focused features, all of which is highly affordable compared to other devices in the market.

The key to this latest iteration in the Watch GT 2 family is that the Pro makes use of premium materials that the previous devices did not. Namely its new titanium frame, sapphire watch dial and ceramic back cover, all of which take the level of luxury up a few notches.

This beautifully crafted smartwatch will be made available via the South African Huawei online store, as well as local retailers like Vodacom, Sportsmans Warehouse, Takealot and Total Sports, starting at a recommended retail price of R5 999.

Unmatched in the market when it comes to features and functionality at that price, the Watch GT 2 Pro also boasts up to two weeks of battery life, which triples that of many other similarly specced smartwatches currently available.

When it comes to value for money in terms of battery alone then, the Watch GT 2 Pro outclasses its rivals, and more importantly means it can spend more time tracking your workouts instead of being plugged in and charging.

Added to this is a setup process that is not tied to any one operating system, as this smartwatch works with both Android (5.0 and higher) and iOS (9.0 and higher).

Once you’re set up, the Huawei Health app will be able to provide detailed insight into your workouts, and on that front, you’re not limited in terms of the types of workouts you can do either.

This as the Watch GT 2 Pro caters for more than 100 different workout modes. These include your standard running swimming and cycling, but also includes more niche types of workouts like skateboarding, rock climbing and skiing. There’s even a dedicated golf mode built into the watch to help you fine tune your swing for the next time you hit the links.

Some of the other highly detailed data that this smartwatch can capture should also appeal to professional athletes as well, with VO2 Max (oxygen consumption) and Sp02 (blood oxygen saturation) being analysed and recorded to know precisely how well the body is performing.

There’s a nifty solution for trail runners or those new to an area as well, with the Route Back feature offering a way to track the route you have run and how to head back on the same route, thanks to the built-in GPS available on the Watch GT 2 Pro.

Pairing the sensors and data-rich experience you may expect to see in a specialised sports watch, along with the eye catching design and premium materials you normally find in a chronograph, the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is the wearable that can do it all.

It is also far more affordable than anything else on the market that comes even close to what it is capable of.
