Star Wars: Squadrons updated with features for PS5 and Series X|S

Star Wars: Squadrons has just received its Update 3.0 for November and, aside from the new content this update brings, there are also upgrades for the new generation of consoles.

For the Xbox Series X and Series S there’s now support for up to 120FPS and 4K. For those who prefer either frames per second or a higher resolution, there’s also an option to prioritise one or the other.

On the PlayStation 5 we get something rather more vague with “Improved visual quality and lighting” on the console, as per the announcement of Update 3.0.

Consoles from both Microsoft and Sony will also benefit from variable frame rate support on monitors and TV which offer it.

For those worried that the focus of the update would solely be on the new consoles, this isn’t the case as there are heaps of changes for the rest of the game.

The biggest addition here is a new map for Dogfight and Fleet Battles – Fostar Haven (see the header image above).

As great as these free changes to the game are, in December things will get even better. Update 4.0 for the game will add two new Starfighters to the game: the B-Wing (Bomber) and TIE Defender (Fighter).

On top of all of this there are a litany of bug fixes and quality of life changes, as you’d hope to see in any update. The full patch notes for Update 3.0 are available here.

For those who want to get into Star Wars: Squadrons now it’s on sale in many places. It’s 40 percent off on Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store and the PlayStation Store. This offer will end in early December.
