You can now add Apple subscriptions to your Telkom bill

Telkom is on a path that many customers might appreciate as it implements more digital services into its product offering.

Recently Telkom launched its free streaming service, TelkomONE, but today that firm is bring Apple users into the fold as well.

As of today, Telkom customers can activate carrier billing for Apple subscription services. These services include App Store purchases, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and iCloud.

This announcement comes on the same day that iStore announced the iPhone 12 series would land in SA on 18th December.

While Apple’s bundled subscription service Apple One is not available in South Africa and there is no news on whether it will come to South Africa, we hope that Telkom supports that as well though there wouldn’t be a reason not to.

If you currently use an Apple device and are on the Telkom network, this is how you can activate carrier billing.

Head to the relevant app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and select Mobile Phone as you payment method. The configuration should happen automatically.

This feature is available for all Telkom customers in South Africa regardless of whether they are postpaid or prepaid customers.

For those using Android, Telkom also offers Google Play Store billing. This means that if you’re paying for subscriptions such as YouTube Music through the Play Store you can instead divert that fee to your mobile number.

If like us you find yourself not making use of all of your airtime every month, this is a nice way to use up those funds.
