From anti-virus to zero-day, NordVPN highlights cybersec lingo we should all know

After many years of covering cybersecurity news there is one thing that is painfully clear – cybersecurity is complex to the point where any conversation about it results in lost stares and confusion.

As much as you or a family might hate cybersecurity, there are certain phrases one should know and understand if you intend on being online in the 2020s.

To that end NordVPN has created Cybersecurity A-Z which highlights 20 cybersecurity terms everybody should know.

This information is presented in a free ebook you can download here and everything is very well explained. The reason I highlight this is because very often in cybersecurity one can launch into an explanation assuming a person understands the jargon.

For example in explaining what ransomware is, you might also have to mention phishing or a data breach. While somebody entrenched in this sector may understand, the layperson won’t and that’s what this ebook hopes to address.

“Cybersecurity touches everything we do online and now more than ever, online life is normal life. By extension, cybersecurity threats are threats to our livelihoods and educating ourselves is essential for protecting our wellbeing. Everyone benefits from understanding the basics which is why the A-Z of cybersecurity terms is important for all of us to understand,” says Troy Hunt, a cybersecurity expert and member of the NordVPN Advisory Board.

The ebook also contains links should you want more information about things like zero-day exploits.

Everybody should be reading this ebook this holiday whether you’re a business owner or a student headed for university.
