Huawei’s 2020 MateBook lineup puts collaboration front and centre

In 2020, Huawei reintroduced South Africans to its MateBook series on Windows 10-powered notebooks, with options available on both the flagship and mid-range ends of the spectrum.

These are of course the MateBook X Pro and MateBook D devices, and while each series offers a unique set of specifications and performance based on price, there is one feature that remains consistent across the board – collaboration.

This as the manufacturer has ensured that Huawei Share tools and functionality are at the core of any MateBook experience. It also means that if you already own a Huawei smartphone, adding a notebook from the same company makes a lot of sense, especially if you value the ease and convenience of collaboration and multitasking.

Ditch the cables

With Huawei Share working via NFC, WiFi or Bluetooth, connectivity between smartphone and notebook is seamless, and also cable free, which is good news for those on the go who want an unencumbered multitasking experience.

One of the best tools on offer is Multi-Screen Collaboration. This allows you to mirror the screen of your Huawei smartphone onto the desktop of your MateBook.

It therefore means you have access to both devices from one central platform, allowing for navigation on the smartphone with ever touching it. Added to this is the ability to answer calls, do video chats and open files on your phone via the notebook.

The additional benefit here is the ability to quickly share files between devices, again skipping any need to plug in cables. There’s also the ability to open up multiple windows from your smartphone on the notebook desktop, taking your multitasking to the next level.

As mentioned, these collaborative tools are native to the X Pro and D series, and this festive season, Huawei is bundling these impressive devices with free gifts in order to give its South African customers all they need to start the New Year off on the right note(book).

Looking at the three models on offer, as you may already know, the X Pro is the flagship notebook of the lineup, serving up 10th Intel Core processors, a near borderless 3K FullView display, all encased in a thin and lightweight aluminium body that can keep going for up to 15 hours.

This particular model is being sold on the Huawei South Africa online store for R34 999, with a Bluetooth mouse and Classic Backpack bundled in at no extra cost.

If that does not catch your fancy, there is also the MateBook D series, which features a 14″ and 15″ model, as well as a wealth of options as far as the internal components, with AMD Ryzen 5 or 7 processors on offer, along with 8GB RAM and 245GB or 512GB SSDs.

The MateBook D 14 and D 15 start at R13 499 and come bundled with their own Bluetooth mouse and backpack for free.

All the MateBook series notebooks can be purchased from the Huawei SA online store, as well as Vodacom, Telkom, Incredible Connection, Computer Mania and Hi-Online.
