After being revealed almost eight years ago Cyberpunk 2077 will finally launch this week. To keep you busy these last few days CD Projekt has released something a little lighter to play in the form of a forum game.

Counting hours until Cyberpunk 2077? Check your instincts in a brand new activity on our official forums! Select your background, pick your equipment and set up duels against other members of our community in a game of planning and deception,” reads the announcement from the official account

To play head on over to the CD Projekt Red forum here.

Once registered you can make the same choice as in the full game by choosing your background as either a Streetkid, Corpo or Nomad, represented below:

With your background picked you can now choose your equipment and start playing.

“When ready – find an opponent on a leaderboard or invite one of your friends over, and plan your fight: 6 attacks and 6 defenses! Submit your challenge and wait for the response… Received a challenge? Have a look at your challenger’s equipment and figure out their tactics. Plan your defense and select a battlefield!” the announcement of the game reads.

The six rounds of the game (represented by the chart at the bottom of this page) can end in a draw if both players are left standing when it’s over.

There’s no mention of a prize for your forum game endeavours – aside from bragging rights – so this really is just a way for people to play Cyberpunk 2077 before they can actually play it when it launches on 10th December for Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

As announced some time back buying it on the previous consoles will unlock the game for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and unlocks will be starting at midnight depending on your platform of choice.
