Fall Guys’ latest crossover is with Doom

After some teasing it’s now been officially revealed that the next franchise to be represented in Fall Guys by way of a costume is Doom.

The header image above has been shown off by the Fall Guys developers. There’s no release date or announced cost to unlock but it will be coming “soon” and it’s very likely that you’ll need to fork over ten crowns to unlock it: five for the bottom half and five more from the top.

Despite this less than detailed image it’s easy to see that the costume will be based off of the upgraded Praetor Suit from Doom Eternal. The shoulder-mounted grenade launcher, which was added for the game, is present in the Fall Guys costume.

As darkness is used here to hide some of the details we bumped up the brightness but there’s not much else to see. As the Praetor Suit is mostly symmetrical, aside from the grenade launcher, this was just a quick enquiry to see if anything was hidden in the dark here.

Crossovers seem to be the most popular way to get some cosmetic content in your game lately.

Fall Guys just featured Godzilla and Sonic the Hedgehog with even more to come in the future.

Fortnite, on the other hand, just wrapped up a massive Marvel crossover which saw 15.3 million concurrent players taking on Galactus. As soon as that was over a new season began and The Mandalorian was thrown in too.

It seems we’re reaching something of a crossover critical mass here with large live games looking to other franchises for enticing cosmetics and events. We’re not really complaining – the Galactus event in particular was very well done – but at this point you can count on these games featuring just about every character you enjoy.

As Homer Simpson said when he was in LEGO Dimensions: it’s not selling out, it’s co-branding.
