Fortnite had 15.3 million concurrent players fighting Galactus

Fortnite has wrapped up its latest season which saw a crossover with Marvel as players fought to defeat Galactus. With the battle over, some staggering numbers have been shared about the event.

The official Fortnite Twitter account reveals that 15.3 million players were all in-game at the time. For those not actively playing a massive amount were simply watching too, with 3.4 million watching across YouTube and Twitch.

To put that number into perspective the most popular game on Steam in the last 24 hours was Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. It’s peak player count in the last day was 901 058. While this is an unfair comparison because CS:GO wasn’t running a massive crossover with Marvel, it’s worth looking at to compare a popular game like CS:GO to the juggernaut that is Fortnite.

For those who don’t play Fortnite and want to see how the fight against Galactus went, check out this video. Like the rest of the stuff the Fortnite devs put out this is rather high quality and we have to imagine it’s gone a long way to introduce a whole new generation to Galactus.

While we still loved experiencing these characters through comics when we were young we have to once again be in awe when we consider what great entertainment people today have.

That aside Fortnite is now moving on to its next season which will The Mandalorian and Baby Yoda, as well as more original Fortnite-specific content. This can be seen in the Chapter 2 – Season 5 trailer below.

After the big Marvel crossover it looks like there’s going to be more of a focus on the meta story of the game. As always there’s a new Battle Pass to accompany this, but don’t forget it’s also included in the new Crew subscription service.
