InnerSloth warns against scams based on Among Us

Among Us is one of the biggest games in the world right now and, as always, with popularity comes countless shysters looking to make money based on the brand name.

This has become rather prevalent in the community leading to Among Us developer InnerSloth warning players to not fall into the trap of shady “businesses” operating illegally out there.

InnerSloth writes on Twitter:

“We’re aware of some Among Us scams/fake merch/apps. Working to get those taken down, but to clarify:

  1. The ONLY official merch is store.innersloth.com
  2. We have *no* streamer/influencer program
  3. Help report scams/fakes to reporting@innersloth[dot]com”

InnerSloth also points to this thread embedded below which talks of a group called “GoAmongUs”.

We won’t link to this fraudulent entity but, rather painfully, the first result of it on Google comes up as “Go Among Us™ – #1 Official Among Us Merchandise Store”. Now it’s not always Google’s responsibility to keep these blatant scams out of search results but it’s rather unfortunate that this is the first result.

Thankfully the Twitter account for this entity has since been removed from Twitter, but its Instagram page remains as does – maybe most importantly – the website it is using to sell merch and make money.

We also had to have a good laugh at the about us page of GoAmongUs which paints the “company” as a group of fans who joined up to make official apparel for the game they love so much.
