Knights of the Old Republic ll comes to mobile on 18th December

Mobile game developer Aspyr along with Star Wars / Disney has announced that a mobile port of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic ll – The Sith Lords will arrive on Android and iOS on 18th December.

The game, originally released on 6th December 2004, has also been made to work on mobile devices with touchscreen controls which you can see in the smaller gallery at the bottom of this story.

“Set five years after the events from the award-winning Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Sith Lords have hunted the Jedi to the edge of extinction and are on the verge of crushing the Old Republic. With the Jedi Order in ruin, the Republic’s only hope is a lone Jedi struggling to reconnect with the Force,” reads the official description of the game.

Pre-orders for the game for iPad and iPhone have already opened on the App Store where it costs $14.99 (~R223) which is rather pricey for a mobile port of an older game. On the Google Play store you can pre-register for the game which will send a push alert to your phone once it’s available on 18th December. No price is listed there but it should be in line with the iOS version.

For comparison the last time we spoke about a paid mobile game which is a port of a console / PC game was for XCOM 2 Collection which is priced at £23.99 / $24.99 / €27.99. Going off of the UK price that’s around R481. While more expensive we think the XCOM 2 Collection is a better value and exists in a genre better suited to mobile, but that’s just us.

The first Knights of the Old Republic has also been ported to mobile by Aspyr and is available on iOS for $4.99 (~R74) and Android for R86.99. It should be noted that the price on Android is a discount from the regular listing of R139.99.
