You can now request a Bolt ride on the web

For anybody hard up on data for their mobile, Bolt now allows you to request a ride via dedicated mobile website.

Yes, we’re aware that suggesting you use the website when one could simply download the app makes no sense but, according to Bolt, this mobile site uses less data than the Bolt app.

There’s also the matter of not everybody using a smartphone and a web app is more accessible in that regard.

“E-hailing remains one of the safest and most cost-efficient ways to get around this festive season. Being able to hail a ride using the Web App makes the service even more accessible to passengers that want a door-to-door transport solution, irrespective of their phone model or limited access to connectivity,” Bolt South Africa country manager, Gareth Taylor said in a statement.

To use the Bolt web app head to this link.

You will need to provide a contact number where you will receive a one time PIN in order to authorise the request. Once authorised, you can stipulate your pick-up point and destination. While you will be able to rate your trip, the ride will have to be paid for in cash.

If you’re looking to take a trip without having to provide credit card details this version of Bolt might be helpful.
