Nvidia teases RTX 30 series GPUs for notebooks

The tail-end of 2020 saw a flurry of hardware releases, but unless you were a scalper or a buyer with your finger on the trigger, getting ahold of the latest hardware from AMD and Nvidia was nearly impossible.

After this week it might be a bit easier to get your hands on Nvidia’s RTX 30 series GPUs, provided you don’t mind that GPU being inside of a notebook.

At the weekend while Silicon Valley was tussling with President Trump and extremists, Nvidia published the teaser below.

There isn’t much to go on besides one or two frames of what is clearly a notebook and what we suspect is a notebook GPU.

Thankfully, there are a few more clues online that we can find suggesting Nvidia will announce RTX 30 series GPUs for notebooks.

This report from Notebook Check details an ASUS ROG Strix notebook with a Ryzen 7 5800H paired with an Nvidia RTX 3080 that was discovered on Geekbench.

The big question we have at the moment is how these mobile GPUs will compare to their desktop counterparts. The RTX 30 series is incredibly power hungry and OEMs will likely have to manage that power demand effectively while still offering great performance.

It will be a delicate balancing act and we’re keen to see what the likes of ASUS, Dell/Alienware and other OEMs create.
