HP refreshes Elite Dragonfly and debuts Wireless Earbuds for CES 2021

Like many other technology manufacturers, HP is showcasing some of its new devices at CES 2021 this week, with the annual event now going digital as the threat of COVID-19 persists across the globe. As part of its presentation, HP has seven new notebooks, five monitors and some accompanying accessories in its lineup.

Of the new devices on display, it is the new iteration of Elite Dragonfly notebook that has caught our eye, with the previous generation also proving quite impressive.

For the 2021 model, HP has stuck to many of the aspects that made the first generation so intriguing, with a lightweight design that’s under 1kg, along with a sustainable design that leverages recycled materials as part of the company’s sustainability efforts.

Internally things have received a refresh, with 11th Gen Intel Core processors and matching graphics on offer, along with the integration of 5G-supporting model to the lineup.

Added to this is a new Dragonfly Max flavour of convertible 2-in-1 notebook, which features many of the same specifications as the other iteration, but adds a 5MP front facing camera and infrared. This is paired with four wide-range microphones and some AI-aided audio optimisation that is designed to deliver a far better videoconferencing experience, according to HP.

For those video call sessions that need to be taken out of office, HP has also introduced a new accessory to its lineup in the form of Elite Wireless Earbuds.

With HP collaborating with the likes of Bang & Olufsen and Beats in the past on notebooks, having a dedicated pair of wireless earphones makes sense. This pair features customisable audio settings, as well as a variable active noise cancelling, with compatibility for Windows PC, iOS and Android devices touted.

No word though on the battery life available, or indeed how much charge the case can hold, so it remains to be seen how well the Elite Wireless Earbuds will be able to compete in an already saturated market.

The same goes for pricing and availability on the buds at this stage.

The Elite Dragonfly G2 and Max, however, are expected in selected regions later this month, with pricing to follow. Local details are still in the offing.
