One third of Steam’s top releases in April were remasters

As it does every month Valve has released lists of the best performing games on its platform to be released last month. For April the oddity is the higher amount of remasters compared to other months.

The announcement of the releases points out that almost a third a of the top 20 performing games were remasters. Now the math here is a bit weird: there’s six remasters on the top 20 list, which is close enough to a third (which would be 6.67), but for some reason the list only has 19 games on it.

That weirdness aside the lists don’t offer up too many surprises with NieR Replicant and Outriders showing up throughout, as expected as two of the biggest games from last month.

For those wondering about the criteria to be included here, for paid games the first two weeks of revenue after launch are counted. When it comes to free-to-play games it’s measured by the number of unique players acquired after launch that month.

Below are all the top performers on Steam for April. Valve provides the lists in a random order, but we’ve put them down below alphabetically for ease of reading.
