Sonic and Sony planning reveals for tomorrow

In a bit of a coincidence both Sony and Sonic the Hedgehog have livestream events planned to announce various projects tomorrow, 27th May.

Let’s start with Sony because it has revealed a bit more about what we can expect. Tomorrow, at 18:00 local time Sony will kick off another edition of State of Play, the company’s usual event it uses as a platform for announcements and insights into its games.

The State of Play will focus on Horizon Forbidden West, the long-awaited sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn. While a countdown to the event (and a pre-show) starts at 18:00, gameplay will only kick off at 23:00 local time, so it’s going to be a late night for those wanting to watch this live in South Africa.

“During this State of Play, we will debut the Horizon Forbidden West gameplay reveal! In this 20-minute exclusive segment, you’ll be seeing about 14 minutes of brand new in-game action featuring our heroic protagonist Aloy, all captured directly on PlayStation 5,” reads the announcement.

This event will be streamed on both Twitch and Youtube. Embedded below is the YouTube one where you can set a reminder for when the event starts.

As for Sonic, well, we have far less information.

The event for Sonic the Hedgehog starts at 18:00 local time, also on Twitch and YouTube.

“Tune in for a first look at some of our upcoming projects, partnerships, and events to celebrate Sonic’s 30th anniversary!,” an official account tweets.

Along with the announcement of this event there’s also something of a trailer released called “Unstoppable” which you can watch below.

This video takes a quick trip (heh) through the last three decades of Sonic.

The trailer gives us no hints about what we’ll be seeing tomorrow so it’s anyone’s guess. We’re banking on, at the very least, getting an update on the second live action movie. There’s been a lot of leaked details and set pictures from the movie doing the rounds recently so an official trailer or something like that would be appreciated.
