Vodacom brings the retro-inspired Nokia 2720 Flip to SA

Vodacom has announced a new phone launch for its South African customers. A feature phone to be more precise in the form of the Nokia 2720 Flip.

As the name suggests, it’s a flip feature phone that is inspired by the design of Nokia devices back in its early 2000s heydays, but crucially supports 4G connectivity. The phone is also aimed specifically at older consumers, with it featuring tools designed for those with disabilities.

The Nokia 2720 Flip has a built-in emergency button that can send an SMS with location details to five contacts, that have been pre-determined and loaded by the customer onto the device, free of charge. Added to this is the ability to add In Case of Emergency (ICE) information, including critical medical information and emergency contacts.

On top of this, the network says that those who go for the post-paid packages can bundle Vodacom’s Hero Assist and Medical Assist, which offer emergency services, such as roadside assistance, security in the event of unexpected emergencies.

As for the other capabilities of the Nokia 2720 Flip, it boasts up to 30 days of battery life and up to 11 hours of continuous talk time. There’s also a 2.8″ internal display, 1.3’” external screen, along with Facebook and WhatsApp preinstalled, as well as support for Google Assistant and Google Maps navigation via voice.

Compared to other feature phones, the 2720 Flip is a bit on the expensive side, with it carrying a R1 549 price tag on prepaid.
