Hackers claim to have FIFA 21 source code for sale

As E3 2021 begins showcasing the latest and forthcoming games, Electronic Arts is dealing with a hack, and a pretty severe one at that.

Earlier this week a post went up on a hacking forum claiming to be selling the full FIFA 21 source code and tools.

“You have full capability of exploiting on all EA services,” reads the post which also claims to give buyers access to Frostbite source code, FIFA 22 API keys and more.

Is this legitimate? We’re not in the business of buying possibly illicit material to check but EA did report it had been the target of a network breach according to Ars Technica.

“We are investigating a recent incident of intrusion into our network where a limited amount of game source code and related tools were stolen. No player data was accessed, and we have no reason to believe there is any risk to player privacy,” reads a statement from EA.

The individual selling EA’s data claims to have 780GB of material.

The firm goes on to say that it has already made improvements to its security measures and it does not believe that this breach will have an impact on its games.

“We are actively working with law enforcement officials and other experts as part of this ongoing criminal investigation,” EA added.
