MCU-inspired Loki lands in Fortnite

Last week the third episode of the Loki Disney+ show aired marking the halfway point of the six episode season. Now, this week, Loki will join Fortnite in familiar garb.

This version of the character is “Inspired by Marvel Studios’ The Avengers” but that doesn’t seem to be the face of Tom Hiddleston, even through the stylised cartoon aesthetic of Fortnite.

Instead the costume itself is what has been brought over from the MCU with the classic look of Loki in 2012’s Avengers, complete with the sceptre housing the mind stone.

On 30th June Loki will be available through the Fortnite Crew system subscription system that gives paying subscribers cosmetics and V-Bucks every month. 30th June is also a Wednesday which means the new episode of the Loki show will also be released on the same day.

“Loki Laufeyson himself is the headliner of July 2021’s Crew Pack —This Pack features the Loki Laufeyson Outfit, his classic accessory the Loki’s Cape Back Bling, the glow stick of destiny Loki’s Scepter Pickaxe, the Chitauri Chariot Glider (not of Asgard or any world known), and the Loki’s Welcoming Loading Screen,” reads the announcement.

It’s interesting that Epic Games calls Loki “Laufeyson” as, in the show, he is referred to by both this name as well as “Odinson”. This isn’t a spoiler or any plot-important point from the show, just a little observation.

Another observation is the Epic Games post for this news using the term “no men like him”. This is, of course, a reference to Loki’s speech in Germany where one character alludes to Hitler. Not the line we would have chosen to market some paid DLC in Fortnite.

You can see the new cosmetic items here as well as the trailer embedded below. Loki Laufeyson / Odinson will also grace the loading screens of players.
