Tan crewmates are coming to Among Us

Among Us developer Innersloth has announced a new colour for crewmates to be added to the game: tan.

While that may not be the world’s most exciting news it’s interesting for this game due to the history of the colour.

Innersloth points to the Among Us wiki which has a breakdown of the colour and its use in the game.

The short version of the story is that tan had a case of “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” as other colours like cyan and lime were added instead.

Because of this tan has been requested and talked about by the community for some time, and now they are finally getting what they asked for.

Tan will be added with the aforementioned 15 player update which was detailed back in late April.

As you could tell by the name of the update 15 people will be able to fill Among Us lobbies. Innersloth recommends that, if you don’t have 14 friends, simply invite your enemies.

“There are a total of 6 new colours coming to the update, which we’ll be revealing more in May. Considering all the colours we already have, it was actually kind of difficult to find colours that will automatically be visually distinct from all the other ones. But in terms of accessibility and colourblindness, we hope to move away from colours being the defining way people identify each other. We’re workshopping ideas for that though,” the developer writes about the colour additions.

Tan was originally considered to benefit those with colour blindness so it makes sense that it has now been announced for this update.

Right now no date has been given for the release of the 15 player update and the tan crewmate colour.
