We get a better look at Twitter’s Super Follows feature

Last week Twitter Blue was unveiled in selected countries before a worldwide release, and now the social media platform is reportedly readying to debut another teased feature in the form of Super Follows.

It is unclear when Twitter will be ready to release Super Follows to the public, but we have gotten a better look at what it may look like when it does thanks to Jane Manchun Wong, who shared the Twitter Blue news earlier this year, making her a reputable source when it comes to this kind of thing.

According to Manchung Wong’s digging, Super Follows will work a lot like Patreon, with followers subscribing to accounts or creators for a fixed fee believed to be around $4.99 a month. That monthly subscription will open up access to exclusive content and it looks like Twitter is open to having all manner of creators make use of the Super Follows feature.

The most eye catching is that Adult content or OnlyFans, which is listed as one of several categories that Twitter will have available on this feature. How precisely such content would be shared with followers is unclear, especially given the platform’s position on NSFW content, despite a lack of enforcement.

Along with embracing OnlyFans-style creators, Super Follows will also set out a few parameters in order for an account to be eligible, such as having at least 10 000 followers, be at least 18 years old and having posted a minimum of 25 tweets in the past 30 days, as Manchun Wong highlights below.

While a timeline for Super Follows has not been detailed, it is clear that Twitter is trying its utmost to make its platform as creator friendly as possible with the lure of generating revenue. Whether followers will be willing to pay for content via Twitter though, remains to be seen, with the uptake of something like Twitter Blue potentially serving as a solid indicator of interest.

Either way the microblogging site is not content with 280 characters alone and is seemingly vying to become a multiple media content sharing platform.
