100K players walked through Death’s Door in its first week

Last week, on 20th July, publisher Devolver Digital and developer Acid Nerve released Death’s Door. It has proven to be popular so far with the indie title bringing in more than 100 000 players.

“Over 100,000 players have stepped through Death’s Door in the first week! Thank you so much for the support and love for our little crow,” an announcement states.

Since its launch social media has been abuzz with pictures, gifs and videos of the game pointing out its interesting details. We’ve even been involved with that – our favourite being this one showing off a sign that reads differently if you choose to cut it in half.

Death’s Door launched on PC as well as Xbox Series X|S. On Steam we can see some of the reception from players with 1 646 reviews on the game so far. 93 percent of those reviews are positive leaving the game with a “Very Positive” standing on Valve’s store.

For those who completely missed the launch hype for this game, it’s an isometric RPG where you take control of a crow tasked with collecting souls.

“Reaping souls of the dead and punching a clock might get monotonous but it’s honest work for a Crow. The job gets lively when your assigned soul is stolen and you must track down a desperate thief to a realm untouched by death – where creatures grow far past their expiry and overflow with greed and power,” reads the description of the game.

Outside of user reviews Devolver Digital has released an accolades trailer showing scores and quotes from outlets that covered the game. And we’re only a little annoyed that they called this crow-centric accolades trailer “impeckable reviews” because we probably would have done the same thing.
