A new RoboCop game is coming… in two years

Well here’s a surprise: Nacon has announced as the publisher that a new RoboCop game called Rogue City is planned to come out far off in 2023.

Rogue City is being made by Teyon, the developer of Terminator: Resistance. While not universally beloved this Terminator game received a lot of free content and continual updates since its launch in November 2019, earning it a niche community.

At the very least we know Teyon can do justice to an 80s icon that is a robot with some humanity.

As the game is still so far off we only have a few details to go off of including a short teaser trailer and an official outline.

“Become the iconic part man, part machine, all cop hero as you attempt to bring justice to the dangerous, crime-ridden streets of Old Detroit. Armed with your trusty Auto-9, factory-built strength, years of experience on the force and a variety of tools at your disposal, you will fight forces seeking to destroy the city you call home in an all new first-person, explosive hunt for the truth,” the game’s description reads.

“You have the power to decide how to fulfil prime directives in your own way, but as the story unfolds proceed with caution because corruption and greed know no limits,” the blurb continues.

We would have loved to see some gameplay in that teaser but, given how far away the release date is we can see why there is none.

The RoboCop franchise seems perfect for an FPS. Our only worry is being constrained to just the Auto-9, though Murphy does get various upgrades and new weapons throughout the movies. Yes these were mostly to sell toys and things got silly in RoboCop 3, but it would be interesting to move through these new items as the game progresses.

RoboCop: Rogue City will release some time in 2023 for both PC and consoles.

Right now a Steam page is already up where you can add the game to your wishlist. We can scrape together a few more details about the game thanks to its tags which are listed as: FPS, story rich, action, choices matter and dark.

The Steam page also shares some pieces of art for the game.
