BritBox launches in SA next month as a R99 per month on-demand service

If you are a fan of British television and series, you may be interested in a new streaming service set to launch in South Africa next month – BritBox.

The new on-demand service features content from the BBC and ITV, with two million people in countries like the US, Canada and Australia already subscribed. BritBox will be available to sign up to come 6th August when it officially launches in South Africa, bit those intrigued by the offering can register their interest at this URL.

“BritBox will bring local consumers a wide range of top quality viewing, including the biggest collection of British box sets, courtesy of a joint venture between British television powerhouses BBC and ITV, responsible for some of TV’s most iconic moments. Together they created new streaming service BritBox, conveniently offering the best of both their programming  – from dramas and comedies to documentaries, lifestyle shows and murder mysteries – all with that distinctive British seal of excellence,” highlights a press release sent to Hypertext regarding the service.

“We’re really excited to be bringing BritBox into South African homes and are confident viewers are going to love our programming, which offers a mixture of brilliant classic and contemporary content, plus the biggest collection of British box sets, all in one place,” adds Neale Dennett, BritBox International’s new markets launch director.

For those wanting to test out the service first, a  seven-day free trial will be available come next month with access to shows like Blackadder, Absolutely Fabulous, Inspector Morse, Top Gear, Poldark, Fawlty Towers, Keeping Up Appearances and Midsomer Murders.

BritBox is compatible with Android and iOS phones/tablets, as well as Fire TV, Apple TV, Samsung Smart TVs and LG Smart TVs. After the week-long trial, you can sign up for the service at R99.99 per month or R999.99 for 12 months.
