Everything announced at EA Play Live 2021

Having skipped E3 earlier this year, we were yet to hear from EA and its plans for the future. That changed on Thursday evening when EA showcased it’s forthcoming games and updates to existing games.

First up we had Codemasters – which was acquired by EA in February – showing off Grid Legends.

If the models in the trailer look scarily realistic it’s because they are meant to look that way. The developer is using tech it calls extended-reality which was reportedly used in The Mandalorian.

Codemasters knows how to make a good racing game so we’re keen for this when it launches in 2022 for PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

Moving on to Lost in Random created by Zoink which seems to answer the question – what if Tim Burton made a video game?

Lost in Random blends real-time action with turn-based mechanics which sounds rather interesting. Players will use Dicey (yes that’s your companion’s name) to stop time, blow up enemies and more.

Lost in Random will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. We suspect this includes current iterations of those consoles as well.

EA also showcased updates for Apex Legends, in Apex Legends: Emergence – the next season that drops 3rd August – and the second season of Knockout City, Fight at the Movies, which arrives on 27th July.

Then, would you like to pit the armies of World War 2 against an army from the future? Of course you do, who wouldn’t want to see that play out.

While Battlefield 2042 had many folks excited when announced earlier this year, Battlefield Portal has our attention. This is not a new game but rather a new mode for Battlefield 2042.

Players can mash up parts of Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 in custom or pre-existing maps. Described as a love letter to the community by EA and the developers we’re very interested in bring a defibrillator to a knife fight.

Battlefield 2042 launches on 22nd October for PC, Xbox and PlayStation.

Finally, EA shared an official teaser for Violent Alien Surgeon Simulator Dead Space.

We don’t know much more than this is a remake of the original game and that it will be exclusive to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S as well as PC.

There’s not much in the teaser but it was enough to have us shout in joy and simultaneously cower in fear at the thought of having to navigate dark halls while a Necromorph waits in anticipation for it’s next meal.

It was a rather subdued event from EA but the titles it showcased definitely grabbed our attention.
