My Friend Pedro gets a chibi sequel for mobile

Released in June 2019 My Friend Pedro is a unique 2D shooter that combines skateboards, parkour and good old gun violence to make a unique experience. Now in 2021 the series returns with a mobile game called “Ripe for Revenge” that will be available next month.

My Friend Pedro: Ripe for Revenge launches on 5th August for Android and iOS. Click the name of your preferred platform to pre-register where we noticed something odd: the name of the game on mobile stores is simply “My Friend Pedro” without the subtitle. We’re not sure why this is as the two are clearly different with Ripe for Revenge sporting a more chibi art style.

“They kidnapped his wife and kids and left him for dead. But it’s going to take more than that to split this banana’s family. Help your friend Pedro serve some ice cold revenge, with a sprinkle of bullets on top!” reads the description.

“My Friend Pedro is back in a brand new mobile adventure of blood, bullets and bananas! Flip and fire your way through 37 action packed levels on foot, on a motorcycle and even on a skateboard. Plan your high caliber choreography for the best scores and, if your skin is tough enough, test your skills in Blood Rush mode,” the description continues.

Publisher Devolver Digital has announced that the main game will be free with no adverts, but can buy the game as a single purchase to unlock checkpoints and the aforementioned Blood Rush mode.

With 37 levels to get through no checkpoints will be brutal but we like that the free version gets you a taste of the game without having to spend anything, kind of like a demo.

For those who want to play the original My Friend Pedro it’s available on Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam) and PlayStation 4.  On PC it’s included in the Steam Summer Sale 2021 so you can get it for 50 percent off right now.
