Spotify adds What’s New feed to notify you of the latest releases

Spotify sees a lot of new content being uploaded to the music streaming platform every day. 50 000-plus hours of it in fact, which is why the company is taking a page out of YouTube’s playbook and announcing a new feed designed to notify users when their favourite artist uploads fresh content – What’s New.

The new feed gathers all the new releases from the artists and shows you follow on Spotify and places them into one view on the mobile version of the app.

“What’s New makes it easier than ever to catch all the latest songs and episodes from the creators you follow. Plus, it’s even updated in real time, so you know you’ll get to listen to new content just as it’s released,” Spotify noted in a press release.

Being launched on both iOS and Android, Spotify says once the feature rolls out, users will see a bell icon appear at the top of the Home tab of the app. A blue dot indicator on the bell icon will let you know if new songs or episodes have been released since your last visit, and you’ll be taking to said feed when you clock on the icon.

“What’s New also includes filters that allow you to sort for new music releases or new podcast and show episodes, helping you find what you’re looking for more quickly,” the platform adds.

No precise date has been mentioned, but Spotify says What’s New will roll out to all users globally on iOS and Android over the coming weeks.
