TikTok Resumes gives users the chance to be seen by recruiters

For many people a presence on social media is a job but what if you’re looking for a job that involves more than internet fame?

TikTok has a rather clever answer to that question. On Wednesday the platform announced a new program – TikTok Resumes.

“With the rise of career and job-related creative content, TikTok believes there’s an opportunity to bring more value to people’s experience with TikTok by enhancing the utility of the platform as a channel for recruitment,” explained TikTok.

The platform has teamed up with select companies to invite jobseekers to submit what essentially amounts to a video CV for consideration.

Jobseekers need only add #TikTokResumes to their video to be included for consideration but there is also a website specifically for this feature.

Companies such as WWE, TikTok, VaynerMedia and more are already advertising positions on the aforementioned website. You will also find tips on how to improve your video CV and more.

Strangely, TikTok notes that TikTok Resumes will only be accepting submissions for US job openings from 7th July to 31st July. We suspect that this is due to the program’s pilot status but it’s an oddity worth mentioning.

We do wonder whether TikTok would roll this program out to more countries around the world. There aren’t any mentions of plans to roll out to more countries but again, that could be because this is essentially a test.

We quite like this idea if we’re honest. Giving jobseekers as many platforms as possible to submit CVs or apply for jobs is a good thing and TikTok gets a thumbs up from us for making an effort.

Here’s hoping for a global rollout.
