Virgin Galactic is giving away a ride to the edge of space

At the weekend Virgin Galactic founder Sir Richard Branson went to the edge of space aboard the VSS Unity and now you and a friend you can take that same flight.

Shortly after coming back down to Earth, Branson announced that Virgin Galactic had partnered with Omaze to give away a roundtrip to the edge of space.

We suspect that this is the “something very exciting to give more people the chance to become an astronaut” Branson mentioned earlier this month.

You can enter this competition for free but you will get only get one entry and with folks able to buy up to a maximum of 6 000 entries (per the competition’s terms and conditions) your one entry best be loaded with luck.

If you decide to buy entries, the money will go to Space for Humanity.

Aside from the trip to the edge of space, Branson will give you a personal VIP tour of Spaceport America in New Mexico and, thankfully, your hotel accommodation will be covered as well.

Entries close on 29th September but the experience will only take place in “early 2022”. You can enter this giveaway here.

That should give you and your friend enough time to prepare for a trip aboard a vessel that achieved a speed of Mach 3 and an altitude of 57.13km at the weekend.

“Our mission is to make space more accessible to all. In that spirit, and with today’s successful flight of VSS Unity, I’m thrilled to announce a partnership with Omaze and Space for Humanity to inspire the next generation of dreamers. For so long, we have looked back in wonder at the space pioneers of yesterday. Now, I want the astronauts of tomorrow to look forward and make their own dreams come true,” Branson said in a statement.
