Hades is coming to Game Pass, so there’s no excuse not to play it

We have been singing the praises of Hades before it even left Early Access and now even more people can experience the game without spending a cent, if they happen to already be subscribed to Xbox Game Pass.

In an update today Microsoft revealed a new batch of games that will be added to the service in the coming month.

These games, in alphabetical order, are:

  • Art of Rally | Cloud, Console, PC | 12th August
  • Curse of the Dead Gods | Cloud, Console, PC | 5th August
  • Dodgeball Academia | Cloud, Console, PC) | 5th August
  • Hades | Cloud, Console, PC | 13th August
  • Katamari Damacy Reroll | Cloud, Console, PC) | 5th August
  • Lumines Remastered | Cloud, Console, PC) | 5th August
  • Microsoft Solitaire Collection: Premium Collection | PC | 17th August
  • Skate 3 | Cloud | 5th August
  • Skate | Console | 5th August
  • Starmancer (Game Preview) | PC | 5th August

As a quick recap Hades is an isometric hack ‘n’ slash roguelike taking place in a version of Greek mythology. You as the player control Zagreus, the son of the titular Hades who tries to escape his father’s realm.

Even for those who don’t like roguelikes Hades has a fully fleshed out story that will keep you playing that is brought together with fantastic writing and full voice acting.

We’re so confident that you’ll like it that we’ll also point you in the direction of our Darkness and Gemstone guide here.

Outside of Hades the rest of the games are exciting too with the two Skate games getting us excited by their inclusion, before disappointing with the fact that only console and cloud players get access. We really wish Xbox Game Pass had some kind of unity across its three platforms so that, when a game is available on one it’s available across all of them.

Starmancer is likely the most unknown title here as it’s an indie game launching into Early Access on the same day it becomes available on Game Pass.

“Obey protocol or go rogue as you take on the role of a powerful A.I. in Starmancer. Build bustling space ports, secret laboratories, and incubators for mysterious eggs. Defend against starvation, sabotage, and space zombies. Don’t worry, you can always grow more humans,” reads the description on Steam.
