Huawei’s great value for money Nova 8 and Nova Y60 phones headed to SA

There has never been a better time to buy a smartphone in South Africa, especially if you’re the kind of person that prides themselves on great value for money devices.

Sure, flagship phones may push the boundaries in terms of what is possible, but the real value in the smartphone space at the moment lies in the mid-range.

It is a segment that Huawei has been a strong player in for a number of years and, while there are some newcomers on the scene locally, Huawei still sets the standard with its devices.

The latest devices that Huawei is bringing to South Africa are the Nova 8 and Nova Y60. Those familiar with the brand will know the Nova series often packed the best possible display, camera and battery into a package that did not dent your wallet and the same rings true here.

Huawei is set to make both models available this week, with pre-orders going live on the Huawei Online Store from 26th August to 31st August. Thereafter, the Nova 8 and Nova Y60 will be available to purchase from 1st September onwards.

As we build up to the local launch and pre-orders going live, let’s look at some of the specifications of these stellar smartphones, starting with the Nova 8.

It features a vibrant 6.57″ OLED display with a punch hole selfie camera and support for up to 90Hz. Added to this is a camera setup to rival most flagship phones, with a 64MP rear quad camera array that Huawei refers to as the Nebula system. Another key feature is support for 66W super charging, which means you’re never too far away from topping up the Nova 8 with juice when needed.

As for the Nova Y60, it may not be as well specced as the Nova 8, but is certainly nothing to scoff at. Here we find a triple AI camera, a large 6.6″ FullView display and equally sizeable 5 000mAh battery to keep things ticking over for a full day and then some.

Once pre-orders go live later this week, Huawei will be bundling the new Nova phones with accessories too, to sweeten the deal as it often does for local device launches. As such, those wanting a pair of earphones or headphones to go along with their new Nova devices should not fret, as Huawei has you covered.

There may also be a wearable added to the mix for the Nova 8, but we’re not trying to let the cat out of the bag too early.

Bundled products will also be found, based on availability, after the pre-order phase ends on 31st August, so be on the lookout for those too as they’ll offer great value for money as well.

Anyone wondering about what happens once the transaction is complete need not worry either, as Huawei has thought of you.

On that front, Huawei is offering after-sale peace of mind with a two-year warranty, one-time free screen guard service, free unboxing service in-store and 50 days of screen insurance.

Both of these devices are set to land in South Africa this week, so watch this space as Huawei readies to welcome them to our shores in style.
