Beoplay Portal wireless gaming headphones available in SA for R10k

Bang & Olufsen have a pair of pricey, but beautiful wireless gaming headphones now available in South Africa in the form of the Beoplay Portal.

These were first showcased by the Danish audio specialists in March of this year, but they are now being made available to local gaming enthusiasts who have some extra money on hand for a pair of premium peripherals.

To that end the recommended price tag on the Beoplay Portal is R9 999, with it coming in either Navy, Grey Mist or Black Anthracite colour options.

In terms of the credentials on this latest offering, they feature adaptive active noise cancelling, support for low latency surround sound, an internal mic, along with being a part of the Designed for Xbox program and Dolby Atmos certified, if those kind of things matter to you.

Added to this is touch controls on the aluminium discs that sit over the ear cups, which are made from memory foam and wrapped in lambskin. They’re also fairly lightweight at 282g and the 1 200mAh battery onboard is said to deliver up to 24 hours of use from a full charge, which is halved when the ANC mode is active.

“Beoplay Portal is the first of its kind — a wireless headphone that combines gaming technology with Bang & Olufsen’s characteristic sound, design, and craftsmanship,” notes Dorte Vestergaard, director and head of Bang & Olufsen’s On-The-Go category.

“Our designers and engineers have worked tirelessly to create a pair of headphones that meets the advanced technological needs of the gaming community while also excelling during daily use. Bang & Olufsen is thrilled to be entering the gaming market with this category redefining product,” he adds.

These wireless gaming headphones may be quite pricey, but given our past experiences with Beoplay products in terms of sound and manufacturing quality, these could well prove to be great all-around wireless headphones too.
