Meet the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini

As is tradition, Apple used its September event to showcase the latest iPhones.

First up we have the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini which are seemingly now Apple’s entry-level devices.

The iPhone 13 is a 6.1 inch device while the iPhone 13 mini is a tad smaller at 5.4inches. Both handsets feature a Super Retina XDR display that can reach up to 1 200nits brightness when outdoors.

Inside is Apple’s new A15 Bionic chip which consists of a 6-core CPU and 4-core GPU. The Neural Engine is comprised of 16-cores which enable a range of machine learning and artificial intelligence applications.

As for the snappers, both handset sport a dual camera which houses a 12MP wide camera with a F/1.6 aperture while a 12MP ultrawide camera features a 120 degree field of view with a F/2.4 aperture.

For video the iPhone 13 is able to record at 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with HDR capabilities. One of the features Apple showed off is Cinematic Mode which allows you to do a pseudo rack-focus on your iPhone. Everything is done automatically but there does appear to be a manual control option as well.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini start at $799 and $699 respectively for the new 128GB iteration.

No launch date has been revealed at time of writing. We will update this story when we learn more.

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available on 24th September in the US. No South Africa availability or pricing has been shared at this stage, but we will let our readers know when it is.
