More than a year later and Minecraft Dungeons releases on Steam

Minecraft is rather famous for achieving massive success despite not being available on Steam, but now its spinoff Minecraft Dungeons has made it onto Valve’s store after more than a year.

Minecraft Dungeons originally released on Nintendo Switch, PC (Windows Store and the Minecraft website), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 26th May 2020. That puts more than a year between that initial launch and the Steam port.

For those who have waited so long for this version of the game the one benefit they can look forward to is the ability to play all the post-launch content from day one.

“Minecraft Dungeons is launching on Steam today! I am sure your preferred version is already in your Wishlist, but in case you want a reminder, the base game is available for $19.99 USD and the Ultimate Edition for $39.99 USD. The Ultimate Edition includes the base game, all six DLCs, hi-res digital artwork, and a soundtrack for the entire game and DLCs!” reads an announcement.

In South Africa the localised pricing puts the base game at R339 and the Ultimate Edition at R669. Each of the six paid DLCs cost R110 each if they’re being bought separately making the Ultimate Edition much cheaper if someone wants them all.

The cheapest way to experience the game, however, is with Xbox Game Pass. The base game is available on Microsoft’s subscription service for no extra money. While this is nice it should be noted that the extra DLC is not included with Game Pass, so that will still need to be purchased to be experienced.

Still with the service charging R99 per month you can pick up a decent chunk of time for the cost of the base game alone, making it a tempting offer for those who just want to give this title a try sans DLC.

Back on Steam it’s been a good few hours since the launch and so far 130 people have left reviews. 88 percent of these are positive leaving the game with a “Very Positive” review rating.
