Port Designs is your new go-to for peripherals

There is a new name in time when it comes to electronic peripherals and stylish luggage to keep it in, and that name is Port Designs.

We already brought you a feature on some great backpacks offered in South Africa by the company so today we’re going to look at some more items you can grab to make your tech life easier.

We’re all spending more and more time at our computers, which may lead some to experience pain from fatigue or even the dreaded RSI – repetitive strain injury.

These are usually caused by poor ergonomics over a long period of time because the human body really isn’t meant to be connected to a keyboard and mice for so long.

Because work won’t stop, one of the ways to alleviate things is with peripherals made for comfort and ergonomics, and the Port Designs Wireless Rechargeable Ergonomic Mouse fits that bill perfectly.

This is, of course, thanks to that unusual shape which looks unlike most input devices you’ve seen before. RSI and similar problems can be caused by unnatural twisting of the forearm, wrist and hand, something that this mouse aims to stop by offering a more vertical experience. Compared to regular, flat alternatives on the market, your body is in a more natural position.

This form factor isn’t the only great thing here, with a 2.4Ghz connection to your PC over a USB dongle offering wireless connectivity at home or on the go. The 300mAh rechargeable battery offers hours of use before needing a recharge which can be done with the included 80 centimetre USB cable.

The optical sensor here can be tuned for 800 DPI all the way to 2 400 DPI, so there’s a setting for you regardless of how you like to use your mouse.

Gone are the days when you could get a cheap USB hub from the shop down the road with greater expectations now placed on the speed and connectivity options offered by the likes of USB Type-C and USB 3.0.

The Port Designs Type-C to 4X USB 3.0 Hub does exactly what is says on the tin: offering you the ability to turn one USB Type-C port into four high speed USB 3.0 ports.

This offers transfer speeds up to 5Gb/s which is perfect both for notebooks which need a few more speedy ports, as well as desktops which want to connect more peripherals at home.

While equally comfortable in both settings Port Designs has created this hub with a slim body making it perfect for travel. Just look at the image of the hub above – there’s no wasted space!

Finally the cable length here is 30 centimetres again catering for both at home and on the go use. When at home that extra length makes it perfect for cable management so it can reach where it needs to be while also offering slack to be tucked away, and on the road there’s options for how and where you want that cable to go.

The Port Designs Type-C to 4X USB 3.0 Hub is available right now.

Our last peripheral today is the Port Designs Universal Stylus which, much like the ergonomic mouse, is a question of comfort and ease of use.

A stylus gives you an alternate way to interact with your phones and tablets and Port Designs offers one that is lightweight, compatible with most touch screens and wrapped up in a metallic body.

Styluses should also be considered with those who find long use of touch screens to hurt their thumbs as this can take the burden off of that finger.

The Port Designs Universal Stylus is available right now in Black, Silver, and Purple.
