The charity programme for Rainbow Six Siege has raised $200K+

Ubisoft has provided some updates about the Sixth Guardian Program, a charity system based around Rainbow Six Siege that sells digital items to raise money for charities.

The first update here is how much money the programme has brought in so far, with an announcement stating that more than $200 000 (~R2.8 million) has been raised for Stack Up and AbleGamers.

That number is growing every day and Ubisoft points out that money was still coming in at the time of writing.

The announcement also shows off the next bundle of cosmetics and the organisation which will benefit. The Thunderbird SG Bundle, which you can see parts of in the images on this page, comes with a uniform, headgear, weapon skin and charm.

The charity benefitting from the bundle is Indspire which, like the other two charities, will 100 percent of the net proceeds from bundle sales.

“Their North Star (see what we did there) goal is to see every Indigenous student in Canada graduate school within a generation. Indspire serves First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students in remote communities, rural areas and urban centres across Canada. With the support of their funding partners, they disburse financial awards, deliver programs, and share resources with the goal of increasing graduation rates for Indigenous students,” Ubisoft writes.

The Thunderbird SG Bundle is part of the Crystal Guard event which kicks of later today.

As always charity like this has its problems. On the part of Ubisoft the company is depending on players to make donations instead of putting forward money itself. On top of that charity like this can also be used for tax deduction reasons.

Those foibles aside money is still going to a good cause which is always worth celebrating. To add to this anyone who would like to bypass these systems and donate directly to Indspire can do so through the organisation’s website.
