The Deep Stone Crypt Raid, but with a live orchestra doing the music

Raids in Destiny 2 have continously dropped our jaw but Intel Gaming and DrLupo have now upgraded the experience.

As part of its Intel Gamer Days, Intel invited Benjamin Lupo – better known as DrLupo – to complete a run of the Deep Stone Crypt Raid which was released in 2020 as part of the Beyond Light expansion.

This isn’t all that special in and of itself, but the fact that Lupo was supported by a 40 piece orchestra is.

You can view the run below and yes, Deep Stone Lullaby does feature at 12:00. While we recommend watching the full video, the jumping puzzle that accompanies Deep Stone Lullaby is perhaps the best part of the Raid and we highly recommend watching that three minute section if that’s all you have time for.

While the video was published last week, the run itself seems to have taken place earlier than that as Elemental Empowerment was active during the Raid and Primary weapons still have limited ammo, something that was changed last week.

What makes this performance so spectacular is the fact that it was done live.

As you might be aware, the music in Destiny is dynamic in that it will change depending on what is happening in game. In the Vault encounter in The Last Wish raid, for instance, the music ramps up in tempo and volume as you progress through the various phases. The transition is incredibly smooth and doing that live can be rather tricky but the orchestra managed to nail it, especially during the Atraks-1 fight in Deep Stone Crypt and the final fight with Taniks.

The run itself is also rather good and does seem as if Lupo and his team completed the raid without a wipe which would’ve made the run and performance just a bit more interesting. We’re not sure some editing took place but, given how relatively easy the Raid is, it’s believable.

Now we just need our own 40-piece orchestra to perform the Destiny 2 soundtrack when we play.

As an aside, the soundtrack for Beyond Light, which features all of the tracks performed above, is available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music.

The Deep Stone Crypt is available as part of the Destiny 2: Beyond Light expansion which is currently available on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Stadia.
