The Huawei Nova 8i serves up flagship-rivalling performance

South Africans love great value for money, especially when it comes to consumer technology.

Given the chaos of the past year or so, the search for hardware that offers bang for your buck has only intensified, and when it comes to smartphones, Huawei has a range of offerings designed to serve up flagship-level performance without breaking the bank.

The latest device to do so is the Huawei Nova 8i, which is set to land in South Africa next month alongside the company’s new Watch 3 wearable.

Our focus for now though is on the Nova 8i, which is the successor to the Nova 8 that Huawei launched in South Africa only a few weeks ago.

For those consumers who were not swayed by what the Nova 8 delivered, this latest device ups the ante even further to yield a smartphone that would give most flagship phones a run for their money.

There are a number of elements which stand out here, but for one, the Nova 8i looks superb with a design that rivals some of Huawei’s most premium phones. To that end, a glance at the rear will showcase a camera array inspired by recent Mate series smartphones.

Said array houses a quartet of lenses to provide superb all-around photo and video capabilities thanks to a 64MP primary shooter that is paired with a 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensing options. There’s a 16MP option on the front too, to ensure selfies are taken care of with ease as well.

Continuing the flagship pedigree, the Nova 8i features a large 6.67″ display up front that offers FullHD+ visuals via a 2376×1080 resolution. Content is placed front and centre without any interference thanks to the screen featuring an Edgeless Display that narrows the bezels on the side and top to 1.3mm and 1.35mm respectively.

The result is a screen-to-body ratio of 94.7 percent, which is a feat that most flagship phones twice the price of the Nova 8i will be able to match.

Speaking of pricing and availability, both of these elements will be shared in due course with Huawei’s committed group of local fans, with the company’s online store set to make it available to pre-order with bundled offers in the coming days.

If you want a smartphone that ticks all the boxes a flagship does without the price tag to match, the Nova 8i should definitely be on your radar. To stay up to date on the device, head to this url.
