Before the live-action version hits Netflix, the animated Cowboy Bebop lands 21st October

By now any fans of the Cowboy Bebop animated series will know that the Netflix live-action adaptation will begin streaming on the platform come 19th November.

In the build up to its availability, Netflix will be making the animated series available too, with it set to land globally on 21st October.

The Netflix Geeked Twitter account confirmed the news only a few hours ago, allowing fans to reacquaint themselves and newbies to the series to get a taste of what the live-action version aims to live up to.

As Engadget points out, while the move to add the animated version of Cowboy Bebop to its catalog makes sense, it is a rather bold move considering live-action adaptations, particularly when it comes to anime, are usually more miss than hit.

That said, we’re willing to give John Cho (who plays the charismatic Spike Spiegel) and company the benefit of the doubt.

While we have not seen any actual footage to date, it looks like the producers on this project are sticking as close to the source material as possible, if the frame for frame recreation of the original Bang opening title sequence (pasted below) is anything to go by.

Whatever your opinion of the adaptation may be, the fact that more anime content is coming to Netflix, will always be welcome in our books.
