BioWare releasing ‘Cosplay Kits’ for Star Wars: The Old Republic

Developers and publishers have a history of releasing game assets and character details for cosplayers to make use of and now BioWare has done this for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

“We are ecstatic to announce that we are building out cosplay kits for our community members who want to bring SWTOR characters to life. There has always been a strong cosplay presence in the SWTOR community, and we wanted to take the opportunity in providing this part of our community with these kits prepared by our Art team. Whether you have been cosplaying for several years or just starting out, these kits will be helpful in building your creations,” BioWare writes in an announcement.

Those who want to access the Cosplay Kit can find it on BioWare’s digital media subsite. Click on “Star Wars: The Old Republic” in the left hand menu and then click on the desired character in the “Character Kits” section.

We’re not sure why these assets are called both Cosplay Kits and Character Kits, but if you get lost the terms seem to be interchangeable.

Alternatively here is a direct link to the PDF which makes up the kit for Lana Beniko, the first character to receive this treatment.

Inside of the PDF cosplayers and other interested parties can find a turnaround of the in-game model, zoomed in details of her design, closeups of her lightsaber hilt and a colour / material guide you can see in the header image above.

For those who aren’t fans of Lana Beniko or simply want kits for other characters, you will have to wait. BioWare adds that more kits will be released “throughout the rest of the year”.

With 2021 in its final quarter it’s not that much longer until the end of the year arrives, so it will be interesting to see which characters get Cosplay Kits and which are left out.
