As we exit a consecutive weekend under adjusted alert level 1 lockdown, the latest numbers regarding COVID-19 in South Africa are once again low.
This as the National Department of Health (NDoH) confirms that 648 cases have been recorded over the past 24 hours. As with last week, we should see this daily figure increase as the week progresses, but for now the statistics are relatively positive compared to past months.
To that end, the total number of infections recorded to date now sits at 2 912 145, with over 17.98 million tests conducted so far. The NDoH also notes that the recovery rate is currently 95.8 percent, which is a figure it has sat at for a number of days now as 2 791 256 recoveries have been recorded.
Looking at the other key figures in the report, 25 fatalities have been recorded in the past 24 hours, as the death toll related to COVID-19 in South Africa rises to 88 317.
As for the vaccine rollout, the past 24 hours has seen 21 867 jabs administered, but this figure can be put down to it being a Sunday. As of 17:00 on 10th October, a total of 19 041 535 vaccines have been administered, while an estimated 9 911 989 people are inoculated at this stage.
