Milestone, the developer and publisher behind Hot Wheels Unleashed, has shown off upcoming DLC for the game revolving around DC Comics.

The first is an entire expansion based off of Batman. The simply-named Batman Expansion is set to release on 2nd December and brings with it the Batcave as a near area to have races, five new vehicles (see the header image above), new customisation options and a track hazard called the “Joker Split”.

We’re a bit perplexed by the choice of vehicles here with no big name Batmobiles like the Tumbler. This is in stark contrast to something like Rocket League which is currently running its own Batman event for Halloween.

That being said this is a Hot Wheels product so the choice of cars was also likely based on what’s popular as a toy too.

The other content focused on DC is the DC Super-Villains Racing Season which launches before the Batman Expansion.

Between 11th November 2021 and 18th January 2022 players can buy DLC cars focused on six villains: Cheetah, Black Manta, Deathstroke, Bane, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. There’s also some new track elements teased briefly in the trailer below like Riddler marks on the walls, Poison Ivy’s plants and Bane’s famous mask.

Launched on 30th September for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Hot Wheels Unleashed has a rather extensive DLC plan.

The main page for the DLC is available here and also includes a roadmap. In the future the game will have content from a variety of other IPs also owned by Hot Wheels maker Mattel such as He-Man, Barbie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and more.

Real world car brands BMW, Aston Martin, Chevrolet, Corvette, Packard and McLaren are all listed on the DLC page too.

While all this additional content sounds great it is not free and the game will eventually have three different content packs which collect all the DLC. Again refer to the DLC page for more information.
