With so many different streaming platforms available, we’re now at a stage where platforms need to offer something unique, a slice of warm carrot cake to lure in prospective subscribers.
To that end, TelkomONE has announced that it will play host to a dedicated women’s sport channel. The channel is called W-Sport and is available right now on TelkomONE.
The channel will feature of 3 000 hours of content annually which includes 1 000 hours of lives events and 300 hours of football.
“We knew something had to be done when a FIFA Women’s World Cup football match drew a paltry 1.2m viewership audience on satellite. With the 2021 Confederation of African Football’s Women’s Championship League on the way, the recent launch of W-Sport on TelkomONE with its fresh perspective on women’s sport is just perfect timing,” said executive of Telkom’s smart home and content division, Wanda Mkhize.
Unfortunately W-Sport is not available as part of TelkomONE’s free programming, but an AMP subscription for the service is rather affordable and you get free data if you’re a Telkom subscriber.
TelkomONE’s subscription options include:
- AMP Daily – R7 a day plus 90MB Telkom data.
- AMP Weekend – R17 per weekend plus 360MB Telkom data.
- AMP Weekly – R19 per week plus 720MB Telkom data.
- AMP Monthly – R49 per month plus 1.8GB Telkom data.
Since its launch in November 2020 Telkom has been adding content slowly but surely and the offering is rather good if we’re honest. While it’s not on the same level as say Netflix, it is loaded with local content and you can stream SABC channels online for free.
There are currently over 1 000 hours of on-demand content on TelkomONE as well as 29 linear channels, 30 audio channels and 22 radio stations, many of which you can watch for free.
TelkomONE is available online but there are also official apps for both iOS and Android.
