Pre-orders for the R13k Huawei Nova 9 open up tomorrow

Huawei held an event this afternoon to showcase two new pieces of hardware in the form of the Huawei Nova 9 and Huawei MateView GT.

For fans of the brand’s phones, the former will likely be of interest as we near the festive season and with Black Friday kicking off tomorrow, the company will be opening up pre-orders for the device from 26th to 30th November.

Said pre-orders will require a deposit of R99 that in turn will lead to R1 400 off of the phone, along with a pair of FreeLace earphones and a Watch GT 2e (while stocks last). As for the actual asking, it carries a recommended price tag of R12 999.

So what do you get for R13k?

Well the Nova 9 is the best specced device within the range that Huawei has brought into the country to date. To that end, a 6.57″ display is present serving up FullHD+ visuals (2340×1080), along with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Added to this is Qualcomm Snapdragon 778 4G chipset, 8GB RAM, 128GB onboard storage and a 4 300mAh battery. As for the camera array, a 32MP selfie camera is present and on the rear a 50MP main lens and 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP depth sensing and 2MP macro lenses are found.

In terms of ticking the boxes, this device seems to do it while being affordably priced, but in 2021 the margins between similarly specced phones is thinner than ever. We say this as Honor, which split from Huawei recently, is also launching a phone of their own in the form of the Honor 50 tomorrow.

With Honor still a part of the Android ecosystem and Huawei doing things in-house, it will be interesting to see which one of these devices South Africans favour.

Pre-order details for the Nova 9 can be found on Huawei’s local online store, here.
