The Steam Autumn Sale is here to take your Black Friday money

While many companies have been putting out Black Friday sales all month long, the actual day is happening tomorrow. Swooping in to steal some sales away from the big day is Steam, which has started its site-wide Autumn Sale.

Until 1st December customers can once again roam the endless titles on Valve’s storefront to find deals.

As the Autumn Sale works much like every other kind of sale Steam does nowadays, the best way to shop is to still go to your wishlist and then sort it by discount to see what titles have been reduced the most, or by price.

If you haven’t been loading up your wishlist, the store does offer you some links to certain genres of games to give you a head start.

Those are:

As with most seasonal sales the Steam Points Shop has been updated with new content to buy.

Artist Mike Mirandi did the animation for the moving Points Shop content and an artists called “Murugiah” is responsible for the art of the sale itself, some of which you can see in the header image above.

To coincide with the Steam Autumn Sale is the Steam Awards where users can vote for titles they think deserve some recognition.

“It is time again to convene the Steam Award Selection Committee, whose sole task is to nominate the best and brightest of the year. This esteemed committee is composed of those most qualified to judge: you! You must determine who elevated the medium of games, by metrics as unique as the field of contenders. To that end, we present a few new categories by which to measure greatness. The choice is yours – now go forth and nominate!” reads the announcement.

The Steam Awards nominations, like the Autumn Sale, will last until 1st December. Winners will be announced slightly later on 3rd January 2022.

To entice users to participate, completing certain tasks like nominating games and playing them will unlock a badge, its details available at the bottom of this page.

The ten categories for games to be nominated for are:

  • Game of the year
  • VR game of the year
  • Labor of love
  • Better with friends
  • Outstanding style
  • Most innovative gameplay
  • Best game you suck at
  • Best soundtrack
  • Outstanding story-rich game
  • Sit back and relax
