Logitech makes it easier for IT teams to manage webcams and other tech

Many IT teams are dealing with a headache that the pandemic and working from home caused – making sure employees are updating their webcams, headsets and other technology.

While it may sound silly, firmware updates for hardware is often overlooked and in a business context this presents a risk that can be easily avoided.

To help address this potential risk and make it easier for IT teams and administrators to manage remote work solutions, Logitech has updated its Sync software.

As of this most recent update Sync now allows remote management of webcams, headset and docking stations.

“Remote work and collaboration tools in many ways saved the global economy and allowed all of us to maintain our productivity through the pandemic. But it also created an enormous problem now that hundreds of millions of people are at home and IT teams have limited to no visibility into tech issues and how to troubleshoot this,” explains general manager and vice president at Logitech Video Collaboration, Scott Wharton.

Through the single platform, administrators and teams can push updates to devices as well as enable new features that could make meetings less of a headache. This has the benefit of potentially solving problems before they appear and dam up productivity.

Beyond the physical technology, Sync also provides insight into meeting room occupancy among other things.

These insights can be used to help tailor meetings and other activities to be more efficient. Sync works with Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet so these insights can help your business no matter which platform you are using.

For now Sync new device management features are available as a public beta and you can sign up to be a part of the phased rollout here.
