Matrics: register to receive your exam results now

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has announced that Matrics can now register to receive their partial, and then full, exam results on the official website for the governmental body.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, the website – education.gov.za – seems to be under heavy load and is barely functioning. A single page can take five or more minutes to load.

It’s a good thing, then, that the site is zero rated so it should cost students nothing to visit when it comes to data.

The process for registering for exam results is incredibly simple:

  1. Head to the exam results page here.
  2. Click on “register” at the bottom.
  3. Enter the required information of: first name, surname, ID number, exam number, email address and password. Accepting the terms of service is also required.

Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any link to said terms of service for users to read.

What can be read is several warnings about the process:

“*Note: Membership to this site is public. Once your account information has been submitted, you will be granted immediate access to the site. All fields marked with a red asterisk are required. (Note: – Registration may take several seconds. Once you click the Register button please wait until the system responds.)”

That last part about waiting for the system to respond may be nerve wrecking with the aforementioned site problems. It may benefit those registering to try and do so late at night, early in the morning, or some such other time where it’s likely that less people will be on the site and straining the servers.

Matrics can look forward to the full release of results happening later this week. For students, parents, educators and other stakeholders, see the quick details about the exams below.

These have been posted by Elijah Mhlanga, the Chief Director: Communications & Media: Department of Basic Education. This tweet is pinned to the director’s Twitter account to highlight its importance.
