We have come to accept that everything is getting more expensive, but today we have great news for Xbox and PC gamers.
The subscription fee of Game Pass has dropped across the board so whether you’re playing on PC or Xbox or even both, you can save some cash.
This price drop has come along rather quietly with little to no fanfare from Xbox or Microsoft in South Africa. That’s surprising to us because the price drop is substantial.
Product | Previous Price | New Price |
Xbox Game Pass | R99 | R79 |
PC Game Pass | R99 | R79 |
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate | R149 | R119 |
This price drop comes on the back of Microsoft’s plans to acquire Activision Blizzard and as such – considering how much that deal cost Microsoft – a price drop is not at all what we were expecting.
Even more bizarre is that little to nothing has been said online about this price drop.
As an aside, if you’ve never used Game Pass before you can sign up right now and get your first month for just R15.90. Sure, you’ll be paying more after that but you’ll still be paying less than a standard Netflix subscription for access to over 100 games.
“We regularly evaluate the price of Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold at a local level to best serve customers in each country. These price adjustments were informed and based on local market conditions in each country,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Hypertext.
