It is yet another episode of the africast this week and we’re discussing Netflix which had some bad news for its investors as growth has not only stopped but subscribers have fallen too.
We’ll take a look at this development and share our opinions of some of the wider problems plaguing the platform.
First off is some smaller happenings this week starting with our review of the j7 Roomba. For the longest time the robot vacuums weren’t available officially in South Africa, but they are now and we found out what it’s like to spend more than R10k on one of these machines.
For something more affordable there’s the Answer Series of study guides which are now available as a subscription service. While everything becoming a subscription is usually bad news, the implementation here is fantastic as well as reasonably priced and should prove a boon for students in the country.
Also on a positive note is the teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder, a video that people have been clamouring for for months now. With a relatively short time between this reveal and the actual release of the movie, we won’t have to wait too long to see more, especially as a proper trailer should be here soon.
Back to our main topic and Netflix has decried its recent lack of growth on all manner of things such as the economy, the war in the Ukraine and people sharing passwords, but it makes no mention of the declining quality of its service and rising prices. We discuss this all together with a look into the future and what streaming may be in a few years.
