If you’re reading this you’ve found another edition of the africast brought to you from the dark of loadshedding as South Africa experiences stage 2 again this week. This time around we’re going to talk about what we do to keep lit up and sane during the cuts.
Before that it’s time for news with PayFast partnering with RCS to bring even more purchasing options to tens of thousands of online stores in South Africa. More options are always good so this is a welcome move from the pair.
Next up is MTN which, while experiencing network problems in KZN due to the flooding, has committed funds and resources to those affected by the ongoing catastrophe. Hopefully more companies pitch in to help as the rain continues.
Finally for news we have a review of Ember Knights, a new roguelike which will be launching into Steam Early Access next week. What we played was good and, despite a few niggles, it’s a good place to start.
On to the main topic and this week we share the tips and tricks we personally use during loadshedding. Sure everyone knows to keep their electronics charged, but there’s some lesser known advice we can give which you may not have thought of.
With loadshedding now solidly a part of life in South Africa it’s worth taking some preventative and preparatory steps now to make life easier the next time the lights go out.
